Wilbert McCowin Jr. and Ghada Ahmed met 20 years ago, had four children and built a life together in Upper Marlboro that many dream of. "When I say I had the best wife ever I mean that I had the best wife ever," says McCowin.

McCowin's family was unexpectedly torn apart Tuesday morning after police say a garage truck collided with the pick-up truck Ahmed was driving on Pennsylvania Avenue near I-495. Ahmed's vehicle slammed into a pole. The 37-year-old mother died at the scene.

McCowin says, "She was a phenomenal woman. She is going to be missing and I will never stop loving my wife."

Ahmed's husband tells us the outpouring of support from friends is allowing him to cope. But he's dreading what comes next: telling his youngest children that their mother has died.

McCowin says, "And I'm still trying to figure out how to explain it to them. Your mom is never going to walk through that door again. And it hurts, it hurts tremendously."

Police say the driver of the trash truck kept driving, never stopped. This husband, while mourning the loss of the love of his life, is calling on the person responsible to ease this family's pain.

"And I just hope that the person that's responsible for it come forth and bring closure to it. That's the right thing to do. That's the only thing to do," says McCowin.

The garbage truck has been described as green or blue with red lettering with damage on the passenger side. Police say it's possible, due to the large size of the garbage truck, that its driver did not realize he hit another vehicle.
