An annual tradition in the DC Metro area, winter break would not be complete without children preparing their submissions for the annual Essay Panel Contest (EPC). Multiple workshops on essay writing were conducted by a team of experienced instructors and former participants who taught the format and structure of the EPC rules, the fundamentals of essay writing, and an in-depth review on the topics at area Islamic Centers.
The theme this year is Life in the Hereafter. The elementary category topic for the EPC essay contest is Al Akhirah: What does the Hereafter mean to me? The Middle Category Topic: Al Akhirah: How should I get ready for it through my everyday activity? And the High School Category Topic: The Life Hereafter: For a purposeful life herein.
Participants are urged to register online at http://epc.mafiq.org. A fee of $15 per child is required. Essays, posters, snapshots or multimedia should be emailed to email@example.com by following the guidelines available at the EPC website: EPC Guidelines. Top contestants in the written essay contest of each level will participate in the speech contest.
January 7, 2014 is the deadline to receive all essays and media created by participants. This year the competition will take place in the ADAMS center in Sterling, VA on January 25, 2014.
The Muslim Link wishes all participants the best for this year’s competition and look forward to the next edition of the Young Muslim Voices, the anthology of EPC essays published each year.
