Moved by the success and impact of Annual Essay Panel Contest (EPC) and Muslim Youth Debate Tournament (MYDT) in the DC-Metro area, generous contributors and friends of Mafiq Foundation have launched their first-ever summer internship, MyStI (Muslim Youth Scholar Training Internship) to promote Islamic scholarship and nurture a Muslim Youth Foundation of Intellectual Know-how and Research (MY-FIKR) institute.

Mafiq Foundation is well known in the DC Muslim community for fostering writing and communication skills among Muslim youth as well as engaging them in critical analysis and lateral thinking.  MyStI is a natural progression of Mafiq Foundation's current efforts.

The objective of the MyStI internship is to expand our youth’s critical thoughts and intellectual capabilities by exposing them to real world social matters and mentoring them in their search for scholastic solutions.

The internship is open to the youth from high school seniors (including rising 12th graders) all the way to university students who can spend 8-12 hours/week on their research project for eight weeks in length.

The internship offers its young participants the chance to submit a proposal for addressing a longstanding community problem and receive recognition for their work. The youth participant also receives a great deal of autonomy in the proposal they wish to submit and is assigned a mentor through their journey.

The summer internship affords the following perks and benefits to its qualifying interns:

Cash Awards - $1,000 will be awarded to each one of the three top students who are awarded the research internship.  $100 will be given to the top ten proposals that are selected for the internship from the applicant pool

Distinction – Winning students will be able to cite their summer internship participation on their resumes which will further their meaningful work experience

Make a Difference – The internship students will be given the opportunity to resolve a challenge or generate a solution of their choice that makes a visible difference in their respective community

Recognition – Selected students will receive recognition for their effort and gain more confidence as their work is published or implemented

Being in Great Company – The internship is an outstanding opportunity to develop a competitive spirit and drive to excel in all aspect of life as participants compete with fellow brilliant minds

All DC-Metro youth are encouraged to apply! More information is available on http://my-fikr.org.
