ADAMS Breaks Ground for Major Expansion

A 4500 sq ft masjid will crown the ADAMS property in Sterling, VA in the next phase of construction.

ADAMS Main Center celebrated this with a groundbreaking ceremony at the annual Eid festival on July 26, 2015. The event had activities for the entire family including carnival rides, moon bounces, barbecue, cotton candy, food trucks, and much more. At noon, Imam Majid performed the groundbreaking ceremony.

This is the third phase of the master plan. to be integrated with existing facility and the extension will expand to another 25,409 sq ft

A multipurpose community hall, 14 offices, classrooms and meeting rooms and a world class visiting center is planned for local, regional, national, and international interfaith, media, and government officials.

According to an official statement, the priority at this time is to expand its main facility by adding a permanent masjid. The existing building will be renovated and designated as the youth center.

As previously reported in the Muslim Link, when ADAMS started the center's construction project, officials thought it would be best to first build the gymnasium and community center during Phase I. This way, the community members would be able to organize and hold festivals for the families. Second, the 1st parking lot was finished at the completion of Phase II. Now, the Phase III will include the expansion of 2nd parking lot and laying down the foundation of the center's building with a main Musallah.

The site plans are completed and all land development permits have been issued, and construction documents are being processed for permitting.

ADAMS plans to start building as soon as 50 percent of the construction funds are secured. The total estimated construction cost is $6 million and currently ADAMS has $2 million at hand.
