Sincerity, Noble Conduct, Awareness, Leardership and Faith

The first lady of Islam, the noble Khadijah bint Khuwailid. Not only was she the main pillar of support for our beloved prophet sal lallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, but a financial outlet for the rise of the early Muslims. Well known is the fact that she was a business woman and the beloved Prophet sal lallahu 'alayhi wa sallam worked for her. She was a woman of leadership and great rank.


The youngest and beloved wife of the Prophet sal lallahu 'alayhi wa salaam, Aisha bint Abi Bakr. Not a business woman or a worker, but one of the greatest scholars of Islam. Leadership through understanding and grasping the teachings of the Prophet sa lallau 'alayhi wa sallaam. She was a leader among both the men and women of this religion.

Is it any surprise that the examples of these great women and others alike are used  frequently to advise our sisters of their conduct and faith? They were leaders, business women and scholars, but never lost sight of their modesty and tenants of faith. Our sisters today strive for similar positions in the workforce and constantly struggle with restrictions of faith. Too often questions arise pertaining to modesty, Muslim identity and the halaal and the haraam. Every day the numbers grow as these Muslim Women step out to change the world, support their families, support themselves and benefit the community. Our sisters are well learned, educated and growing with talent. The workforce and our communities are in dire need of them in order to grow and move forward. We work, live, strive and struggle with a purpose.

Join SIA (Sisterhood in Action) in our February Forum where we will Insha'Allah cover the Role of Muslim Women in the Workforce. The aim is to cover common concerns and struggles our sisters face in such an atmosphere. Also, to answer any questions sisters may have pertaining to their own situation. It is a struggle; preserving one's modesty, standing true to one's Muslim identity and fitting in with one's atmosphere and co-workers. These struggles are faced in work places, both, in the Muslim community and beyond.
