The Lil Italian Café sits within a shopping center right next to several other eateries, and yet the Lil Italian Café was almost full speaking to the reputation it has for making it worthy of the diner’s choice.  Inside the Lil Italian Café the setting is clean and simple, tables have vinyl coverings, and there are booths along the walls if you prefer not to sit at a table. The venue is good for large parties, families, and even had tables for just two. Once seated we were immediately greeted and our drink order was taken, which was quickly followed when our server who returned to take our order. Service was swift and courteous.

We began with the Fried Zucchini appetizer which came still hot from being fried, with blue cheese dressing for dipping. The batter was crispy and light, perfect complement for the tender zucchini it encased.

For our meal, we had the “Spring Pizza” which is a thick crusted personal pan sized pizza topped with spinach, tomato, feta cheese and garlic butter. The flavors of this pizza blended delightfully with the home-made garlic butter topping and the dough was baked to fluffy perfection. Additionally we had a side salad to accompany the pizza and better balance the meal with the fresh lettuce, tomato, bell peppers and onion.  Our other entrée was the Veggie Roll Calzone which came filled with green peppers, onion, black olives, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese and for a minimal extra fee we added turkey ham and spinach. The dough was hand tossed, rolled with the fillings inside, baked with cheese on top to a warm golden finish. Exciting options from the halal pizza toppings included turkey ham, beef peperoni, sausage, chicken and beef for a minimal extra fee. We finished off our meal with an order of cannoli which came as two pieces, ends dipped in dark chocolate and filled with the sweet cream.

The pizza and calzone were both large enough servings we had extra to take home and
shared one of the cannoli allowing us to take one home for later.  All this and two sodas came to a total of $27.45 to which we added our tip, bringing our full meal total, tax and tip included to less than $35.00 for a fresh, tasty, high quality meal large enough for two to share and still have left overs. The menu a Lil Italian Café is large enough it will take many visits to really get a full taste of all their offerings and there is a selection of non-Italian choices including a children’s menu sure to satisfy everyone within your party.
