Funeral home project commences at Mustafa Center in Ramadan

It was a monumental and historic event on Monday, May 6,2019 when the Mustafa Center commissioned its landmark funeral home project opposite the masjid’s 6839 Braddock Road location in Annandale Virginia.

The Funeral Facility project which began in 2012, has raised more than $1.1 million with the help of the community, including $294,483 in 2017. ‘’Over $855,000 was used to purchase the land and pay for building design, site development, Fairfax County fees, taxes and fundraising expenses,’’ says Iman Sahid, Imam and Project Manager.

Mr. Sahid told the Muslim Link that they were delighted that the turning of sod ceremony has officially been done which marked the start of a great project; even though the total amount of $2.6 Million needed for the entire venture is yet to be raised. He said that the project will be completed in a year’s time.

Upon completion of the funeral home, the facility will house a funeral parlor comprising of separate rooms for washing both male and female bodies, a freezer for storing the deceased and prayer rooms for janaza.

‘’Everything that has to do with the dead will be done at the funeral facility, whilst the masjid grounds will be solely for praying Jumuah and holding iftars and other religious ceremonies,” Imam Sahid emphasized.
