“We thank Senator Cardin for his principled position on a critical confirmation that impacts all Americans,” said CAIR Outreach Director for Maryland Zainab Chaudry. “It is an important affirmation to his constituents that elected leaders can champion the values of inclusivity and tolerance, and will refuse to ignore bigotry against our communities.”
Senator Cardin joins a growing list of senators publicly opposing Pompeo’s bid, including Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), and Sen. Christopher Coons (D-DE).
Recently, CAIR thanked these senators for calling out Pompeo’s anti-Muslim bigotry at a senate confirmation hearing.
