A brightly lit hall at the RISE Demonstration Center in Washington DC was prepped for Jummah. At the first Peace Movement Summit, the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) and BRIDGES had collaborated on, young people in the juvenile system gathered to reflect on their faith traditions on March 30, 2018.

As health professionals and elected officials released information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, masjid leaders hastened to coordinate the appropriate operational changes to reflect the new health and safety guidelines. 

Masjid ul- Haqq, located at 514 Wilson Street, Baltimore is the first mosque constructed over sixty-years ago to serve the Islamic population in Baltimore City. “This historic masjid has given birth to several masajid in Baltimore city as most of the Imams and Heads were tutored from Haqq” noted Sajjaad Washington, the Acting Imam.

In a show of Islamic hospitality, acceptability, tolerance and coexistence, the Dar-us Salaam community in College Park, Maryland organized a neighborhood barbeque for residents and first responders in North College Park on Saturday 27th April, 2019.

The spate of masjid break-ins continued last week as the Islamic Center of Maryland in Gaithersburg became the latest masjid to suffer from an unsuccessful burglary attempt. 

Mclean Islamic Center (MIC) had its final hearing with the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) in Fairfax County on Dec. 12, 2018 and was granted approval of their application to permit modifications of development conditions.
