The Healthy Aging, Community Services and Support Multicultural Event held at the Silver Spring Civic Center was a celebration of hard work, advocacy for the aging and cooperation. On May 6, 2018, stakeholders from several different arenas gathered at this inagugral event.

There were flowers onthe tables and art on the sides of the room. There were youth and seniors, Muslims and non Muslims, performances, just like Mona Ngem imagined it a year ago.

Ngem and her team worked tirelessly for a year - bridging the Muslim  community and Montgomery County government services. They filled in gaps, identified needs, and trained 35 ambassadors from several communities. These ambassadors will be servicing their communities by being the go-to person that imamas and boards can refer to when congrgations have questions about senior issues.

The event began with a prayer by Imam Abdullahi of Muslim Community Center, followed by Rabbi Dr Gary Fink and Reverend Kip Ingram.

Imam Faizul Khan of Islamic Society of Washington Area presented on the Imams and Islamic Community Centers partnerships with AMSS to reach the underserved seniors and their caregivers.

Donna Philips Mason, akey stakeholder in the organization, addressed the audience
